2011 ACT 18U Ice Hockey Team Players
Message from the Head Coach of this year's ACT Midget Ice Hockey Team:
For those on the attached list, congratulations for being selected and for indicating your willingness to attend the Australian National 18U Ice Hockey Championships (Tange) this year representing the Australia Capital Territory! It is a great honour to compete at national level championships and I am very excited about travelling to Perth with such a fine and dedicated group of young men and women this year. Although past experience has shown that hopes of obtaining gold or silver medals at this event are probably unrealistic for our small group of players, the chance to compete hard, win respect for the 100% effort and sportsmanship this team has and continues to demonstrate so far this year, and the good chance to earn a birth in the medal round makes entering this tournament more than worthwhile.
As players, you will get a chance to compete with and against the best players in Australia for your age group, and showcase your individual and team talents in front of the selectors for Australia's Youth and Junior teams. For those of you interested in continuing to develop your ice hockey skills and perhaps attend the Midget National Development camp next January, you will be automatically invited based on your participation in this tournament.
Regardless of your future hockey ambitions and whether you are attending for the love of the sport, your personal enjoyment, the mateship of your team mates, or simply the chance to see and play hockey in a distant part of Australia, I am sure this championship will be a fabulous, enjoyable and memorable experience for us all!
